Many museums have clay whistles even if only a few of them are exhibiting them. Please, let us know other interesting museums where clay whistles can be seen.
FRANCE
CAEN(14) Musée de Normandie Caen(14) The dynamic museum of Normandy is a good witness of the present vitality of the French regional museums. Far from the image of an old fusty museum, it has an active policy of researches about the Normandy history what leads on to high quality exhibitions. This museums owns the oldest French medieval clay whistles known in France. They are not permanently exhibited but only shown during temporary exhibitions.

BOURGES(18) Musée du Berry. Bourges(18) The museum of Berry presents the regional archaeological and ethnological collections. In a room, one can see an exceptional collection of stonewares from La Borne (Marie Talbot...). A whistle, attibuted to Joseph Talbot is the witness of the rich regional production well represented by many whistles in reserve.
SEVRES(92) Musée national de la céramique. Sèvres(92) Famous for its French faïence collection unique in France, the National Ceramic museum in Sèvres also has an exceptional collection of earthenware pieces. A set of whistles of the 16th century made in Paris is exhibited. Be careful, being shortstaffed, the earthenware rooms (Iranian ceramics, Italian...) where you can show the whistles are frequently closed. Better phone before to know if these rooms are opened

LA BORNE(18) Musée de la poterie La Borne(18) The pottery museum in La Borne (near Henrichemont in the department of Cher) shows in the former church of the village the production (within of course some whistles) of this potter village famous for the quality of the items made by the "imagiers" and especially by the Talbot's dynasty.


Animated by passionated voluntaries, this museum organises each year an exhibition on a different theme in association with other national and regional museums. You can discover this year " Sitting on Wine".

EVIRES(74) Musée de la poterie. Evires(74) The pottery museum of Evires was born from a man's passion: Jean-Christophe Hermann. Within a unique collection of pottery from Savoy and Dauphiné, some clay whistles reflects the former regional production.

METZ(57) Musée de la Cour d'Or. Metz(57)
The museum of La Cour d'Or testifies to the rich archaeological history of the town of Metz. Recently renovated, a walk of more than three kilometers will allow you to discover the wonderfull evidences of this history. You will not ignore the showcase with whistles of the 15th century all of them being exceptional.

LILLE(59) Musée des Beaux Arts. Lille(59) The Palace of Beaux Arts in Lille is, after the Louvre one of the richest French museums. It has a great clay whistles collections in reserve within some of them are shown in the wonderfull medieval department.
Don't forget to visit also the rich ceramic department.

PREMERY(58) Musée des Beaux Arts. Lille(59) The museum of antique stoneware of Premery shows the largest collection of its kind in France.
More than 1200 pieces are exhibited. Stoneware from the Puisaye and Berry regions, artistic stoneware from the Carries School... : this new museum is an essential visit in your ceramic tour.

STRASBOURG(67) Musée Alsacien. Strasbourg(67) The Alsacian Museum of Strasburg has a fine collection of old Alsacian whistles.
Unfortunetly, those whistles aren't shown today as the Museum has not enough place to show all its rich collections. Nevertheless, to visit this Museum is a marvoullous thing to do in a touristic tour in Strasburg.

In the future, the exceptional collection of old toys (including of course the whistles) could be shown.

GERMANY
HANAU-WILHELMSBAD Musée de la poupée. Hanau The antique-collection of the Hessian Doll Museum with it´s 151 objects and objectgroups is one of the largest in the whole world.
Three whistles are exhibited but do not forget to look also at the wonderfull dolls collection.
The museum encompasses on 750 m² in which the development of the European doll from the antiquity to the present day, also "dolls of the whole world" and "circus and fair" are exhibited.
This museum is accomodated in the arcade building of the Wilhelmsbad spa. Through the 32 windows one enjoys a view of the park with its pools, artistic ruins, hermitage and caroussel (dating from the end of the 18th century).
